Dora the Explorer Party

A few weeks ago I helped Ashlyn's mom design a Dora the Explorer party! It was a tough theme to wrap my head around at first, but once I got the astro-turf, the ideas just started flowing!

I reconstructed gift bags from their original state to make "straps" and a "flap" (from the attached gift card). I love how they turned out!

I love Dora's yellow ruffle socks! I had to incorporate that somehow! :o)

Jackson's Pumpkin Train Party

Okay...I realize I am super behind on posting about the parties that I have done this fall and winter so far. It seriously has been a whirl-wind and it actually feels nice to have a lull right now.

It may take me a few weeks/months but I'll be sure to share all the events I've done with you guys. Right now a website for Firefly Festivities is in the very early stages of planning and design so until it's done I will share all with you here! Here are some shot from Jackson's pumpkin train birthday party. He turned two right before Halloween and he loves trains! They even went to a big trick or treating event after everyone met at their house for snacks and cupcakes. How fun to have a fall birthday!

Marble Magnet Craft

It's almost Christmas and that means you may need a quick, easy, and affordable gift to make for some co-workers, neighbors, teacher gifts, or even students in your class! I have been working on a party favor idea for my next upcoming event, "Where the Wild Things Are." It's a1st  birthday but there will be lots of older children there so I wanted a favor that they could use either at home or at school!

I decided to make marble magnets with images from the book, Where the Wild Things Are.  Y'all, seriously...they a reso easy! It only took me an hour to make about 60! I'm giving each child a set of four at the party.

You will need: (All Supplies were purchased at Michael's Craft Store)

* Mod Podge (gloss- orange bottle)
* E-6000 Adhesive Glue
* Flat Marbles (clear)- these can be found in the floral department at Michael's.
* round craft magnets. Mine came in a pack of 50 at Michael's.
* Scissors
* images- mine were a 1.5"x 1.5" square, but it doesn't really matter about the size, as long as the image you want in the marble fits! I found them on the internet for this project!

How To:

1. Lay a clear flat marble on top of the image you want as the magnet so you can figure out where to glue it later on.

2. With a paint brush, put Mod Podge onto the flat side of the marble. It will be white, but it dries clear. Promise.

3. Immediately place the marble onto your image and press. There should be excess paper on the sides. You take care of that next. Allow the Mod Podge to dry about 15-20 minutes until you do the next step.

4. With scissors, trim off the access paper from the image until no edges are showing. Now you have an image that fits perfectly under the marble.

5. Put a dot of E-6000 glue on one side of the magnet.

6. Press the magnet onto the back of the marble.

7. Let them dry and there you go! Unique little magents!

I had so much fun making these. After I was done with the ones for the party, I had a few marbles left over and was going through magazines to try to find little images to make a few for myself with! Instead of a Christmas "card" this year, I'm going to make a little set of magnets for our close friends and family with our family pictures in them! That way everyone has them year round! Here's my proto-type, really hard to get good pictures of these with the shiny glare! :o)

Lane's Racing Party

Today I had the opportunity to continue to do what I love. I had the best time putting together Lane's two year old racing birthday party! His favorite racer is non other than the famous, Lightning McQueen! During our first consultation meeting we decided to go in the direction of a general racing theme, with touches of the movie Cars pulled in here and there.

I absolutely loved the theme for this party. It was hard-core little boy, sleek, stylish, and it presented itself well. It was also meaningful to the family because Lane's grandfather won many races in his glory days! So of course we had to use some of his gear and trophies for the decor!

It was a wonderful afternoon and a great day to celebrate the birth of sweet little Lane!

 "Refuel"= Mason Jar Chalkboard Sippy Cups with red and white striped straws. The kids LOVED these and got to take them home as one of their favors. Nicole and Brandon were gung-ho about having these at the party and I think they added a precious touch!

Motor Oil= Sweet Tea
Mater Came from Sparkle City Sweets Bakery in Inman, SC

 The popcorn Stand. I made the podium from a boot box and mason jar box! The cones are made with scrap-booking paper.

 A Shot of the Piston Cups. Mini trophies with chalkboard name plates filled to the brim with white, red, and black M&Ms. The M&Ms came from Candy World in the Haywood Mall. These were the other party favor for the kiddos besides the mason jar sippy cups.

 Shredded Tire Sandwiches= Shredded BBQ Sandwiches!

Lane's Cake! Nicole baked the cake, Lane's grandmother iced the cake, and Sparkle City Sweets made Lightning McQueen, the cones, and the tires.

 Piston Cups- party favors for the kiddos! Mini Trophies with chalkboard name plates filled with red, white, and black M&Ms from Candy World at the Haywood Mall. The trophies are from Wilson's.

One of Lane's trophies. I found a twin set of these at Goodwill for two bucks total. I spray painted them where the old awards were written and custom made them for the party.
